Because they are great companions. They think they are human and talk to you with their bark and looks, which are very expressive. It's like having a very obedient, and faithful loving child who doesn't talk back and wants the parent around. They are also very affectionate.

They do not shed, so they are good for those who have allergies and are easy to take care of. They are willing to live in small places as long as you promise to take them for a walk.
