Standard Poodle

Baci sleeping under the covers!

I think Standard poodles are perfect because they feel really great to the touch, and their fur doesn't end up all over the house. It pretty much only comes out when they are brushed.

Poodles are easy to train and very smart. Sometimes they figure out things you don't want them to know!
They are great around kids and adults of all ages.
They are also very loving, and enjoy being with people.

I have a 13 yr and 5 month old standard poodle right now. He has a very calm disposition, and he loves everyone and thing he meets. He was never in a fight and never even challenged another dog until once a friend's dog came over for a visit, and picked on our smaller mixed breed, and the standard poodle did jump in just to make it be known that he wouldn't tolerate anyone picking on his family member.

2 days ago I got an new poodle puppy. This one will end up being a toy or miniature size. She weighs 2 pounds and 5 ounces right now, and she is 8 weeks old.

The only negative that I can think of is that if you don't get clippers and groom the poodle yourself, it could get expensive to pay for grooming. It costs me $70 every time I get my standard poodle groomed, and I do it every 6 to 8 weeks. Once I waited longer, but it isn't a good idea. They are really furry! I am hoping to learn how to groom my own small poodle.

To sum it up, it is well worth it to get a poodle. They are athletic, smart, and can live in any environment.
