I have two Bouviers and I just love the breed. Even though they are big dogs they do not take up a lot of space. They are very good inside as they prefer to sleep then exert energy.
They are perfectly happy being in the yard or going on walks. They are easy to care for but they do need regular brushing to keep they from becoming matted. A few inexpensive tools make this job relatively easy. They do not shed in the house which is another big asset. They are loyal to their families and they are extremely intelligent. They are wary of strangers but they do not become belligerent. They tend to analyze a situation before they take action. They are very good with children but you still need to be careful as they are much stronger than they look.
Bouviers are not for everyone but they are a breed worth looking into if your wanting a large dog with good protective instincts. I would suggest though as in any breed if your looking or thinking of getting a dog please investigate first and make sure the breeder is breeding dogs that are sound and with good temperaments.
Check at least three generations back on both sides to see if there have been any serious problems in the line. Most breeders will have this information for you or be able to tell you where to get it. Good luck in your search.
