Border Collie

These dogs are the smartest dog breed and are easily trained. They are great around kids, though if yours is young and extremely hyper I would be careful around toddlers and babies. The reason is because they have a very high energy level. This makes them suitable for things such as flyball, frisbee, agility, herding, or just a jogging partner. However you must be prepared to give them lots of exercise or they will become unhappy.
They are beautiful dogs with pretty markings and soft coats. You must groom them often and when it is shedding season they do shed a lot. Another plus is that they are not huge dogs such as the golden retriever but are medium sized dogs.
Overall they are very loving, sweet, loyal, and just great dogs! My dogs (Cassie and Emmitt) were always willing to play, cuddle, or do whatever I felt like. My border collies lived to be 14 and 15 and we are going to get a new one soon. I think Border Collies are great pets for any family that wants a great companion.
