Barney & Pepper

This little brother/sister cockapoo "duo" came to us quite by accident. They were found roaming the streets of Riverside, CA, in quite a disheveled state. Both were very thin, had matted coats, with Barney being the worst. He evidently had an injury or fracture to one of his front legs when found. A wonderful lady saw them by the side of the road, coaxed them over (it didn't take much!) and took them home. Over the course of a month or so while she was fostering them and hoping to find them a permanent home, she fattened them up, had them groomed, got their shots, and even had one of them fixed.
Then her mother and our neighbor happened to be at lunch one day. The mother mentioned that her daughter was looking for a home for two dogs. Our neighbor told her that she knew of someone (us!) who lost their dog of 13 years and now wanted to adopt two new dogs. We got to meet them and it was love at first sight!
So hard to believe they could have been left out to fend for themselves for so long. As the picture indicates, they are now spoiled rotten!
They are complete opposites. Pepper is in charge of Barney and the rest of us. Barney does whatever he is told, but sometimes gets enough of his over-assertive sister and gives her the "look." But they are friends for life, and now our pals for life!
We hope this picture wins them first prize as a Homepage winner!!!
