What is wrong with mini aussies? Nothing! by: Anonymous
There's nothing wrong with miniature australian shepherds, as long as they are being bred for temperment, quality, health. Toy aussies are a different story. The toy aussie is where you get all of the health issues, improper breeding practices. Many miniature breeders are just breeding small standard aussies to maintain that stature. You can get a horrible standard aussie breeder just as easily as a horrible mini aussie breeder. Some people breed for money, others for healthy companions. Mini's can do just as well with herding, agiility, obedience, etc. And no, i'm not a breeder of mini aussies. I did my research and bought one from a local responsible breeder and it's been the best dog I could have ever asked for. I really don't understand why people are treating the idea of having smaller aussies badly when they CAN be responsibly bred.
